Lip Blush

Lip Blush & Dark Lip Neutralization

That soft, warm tint of your lips that's just naturally flushed and vibrant fades over time. They feel muted, thinner, and cooler with bluish tone, maybe even slightly asymmetrical. Lip blush restores, enhances, and correct, but it's not lipstick. Lipstick is voice, expression: a somber, earthy tone or candy apple red — your statement to the world. Lip blush is the naked honesty that greets you in the morning each day; authentic beauty is its own statement.
  • Two weeks before: no chemical peels, facials, or laser treatments.
  • Two to four weeks before: stop using creams or serums containing Retin-A, retinol, tretinoin, glycolic acid, or alpha-hydroxy acids.
  • Seven to ten days before: stop using acids (AHA, BHA, glycolic, lactic, salicylic), vitamin C, and anti-aging creams.
  • Three to five days before: with doctor’s approval, stop taking blood-thinning medications (aspirin, Advil, ibuprofen, etc.).
  • Twenty-four hours before: no alcohol or smoking.
  • Day of the procedure: avoid coffee and energy drinks.
  • If history of cold sores, start prescribed antiviral medication on the day of the procedure.
  • Schedule at least two to three weeks after Botox or fillers.

Before your appointment

aftercare instructions

  • Temporary swelling, redness, and intensified color are normal during the first few hours.
  • First two days: do not touch lips with unwashed hands, avoid heavy house cleaning, and do not kiss. Drink through a straw. Eat only dry foods without touching the lips (no soups). Avoid very spicy, salty, or hot foods/drinks that may irritate the skin.
  • Apply healing balm recommended by artist five to ten times per day in a thin layer using a new cotton swab for each application (for one week).
  • Days three to four: small scabs will appear — do not pick them; they will fall off naturally within one to two days, revealing a softer, natural color.
  • The final color will stabilize within three to four weeks.
  • A touch-up is recommended after four to six weeks to secure the result.

Cold sores are caused by a virus that remains in the body after the first infection. Lip Blush creates micro-trauma to the skin, which can trigger a flare-up. Those with a history of cold sores should prepare more carefully by starting the prescribed antiviral medication on the day of the procedure. If redness or mild discomfort appears on the lips, apply over-the-counter creams directly to the affected spot. If a cold sore develops, healing may take longer with reduced pigment retention in that area. If an active cold sore is present at the appointment, inform the artist because the procedure will need rescheduling.

Fillers first, then Lip Blush. Wait two to four weeks after fillers for PMU.

Minor asymmetry can be corrected, but PMU can’t go beyond the natural lip border or “draw” a new shape outside the natural contour. A skilled artist will never apply pigment beyond the lips. Fillers are for volume and shape; Lip Blush enhances their natural color.

We work with dark lips too! Lips that have a cool blue-purple undertone are handled with a color neutralization procedure for a warmer, lighter shade. It’s a separate pigment implanted into upper skin layers. Often, it requires three to four additional sessions and may have longer healing times between. Some cases can even combine Lip Blush and neutralization into one session. It’s case dependent and will be evaluated individually during the first appointment.

The skin perceives the procedure as trauma, leading to an increase in melanin production that causes temporary hyperpigmentation. This reaction is normal and temporary, though healing may take one to four months in such cases.

Swimming is not advised for at least 10 days after Lip PMU. Chlorine irritates recovering skin. It can affect pigment color and healing quality. Water may soften scabs, leading to pigment loss. All scabs should have naturally shed before swimming. There should be no sensitivity or dryness.

Using SPF 30 to 50 protects pigment from fading, prolongs results, and prevents hyperpigmentation. Ideally, opt for a balm specifically for lips and reapply throughout the day, especially in summer.
